World’s first commercial camera pod with 5 axis gyro/electro/magnetic stabilization mounted on an RPV.
Visual Air Production is equipping their 2 stage jet turbine helicopters with new stabilized camera system pods, specially designed with performance and mass as priority. The new pod comprises of a completely enclosed camera with a 5 gimbaled gyro/electro/magnetically stabilized configuration. This configuration provides continuous 360° rotation; 40° side roll correction and +10° to -110° tilt freedom. Using the Sony HDV 1080i camera, the total flying weight is less than 17 kg and the Panasonic AG-HVX200 being approx 18 kg. Designed in South Africa to MIL-SPEC, an all digital control loop implementation and fine tuned integration to the turbine helicopter, result in an exceptional performance and reliability. With a 2 meter rotor span, turbine (smokeless) RPV and state of the art camera pod, that performs as well as the most expensive full size rigs currently available, this system fills the gap between a crane and a full size helicopter, to achieve that extreme POV shot. |
